Oral Transmission

In Hatsumi's book Art of the ninja: Secret techniques, there is a section where he talks on how the ninja of old passed down information through things like haiku. One of his examples is:
A morning glory
has usurped my well bucket
I can go next door

I figured we could have a thread we're we could come up with and share our own or discuss meanings of others.

Re: Oral Transmission

This sounds, fun. However, the translation will kill the meaning as many words in Japanese can mean others when written or used with others.

Re: Oral Transmission

So maybe we should just make up our own, I like that morning glory one, I thought on it before I was pretty sure I knew what it was saying

Re: Oral Transmission

No, that's fine. I'm sure most of them will work. Do you have many to share? Old and new, but specify them please.

A poem of Shibata martial poems:

When you encamp on a place close to the enemy line, you should make brisk watch fires every night

Sure!  All I have to do is compose them!  Should be an almost endless supply!

Are we connected
Through studies ancient, intense
Yet distant, the same
