Shinobi Soldiers

Shinobi Soldiers is an investigation in the ninja, and it seem pretty good, I'd like to see more people get a hold of the information in the vids or articles.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

~45 seconds in: he says "ninjitsu". That right there may have sealed his fate as a viable resource. Otherwise, I'd be interested to see where this goes. Keep posting these.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

@dot if some thing like that upset you don't watch episode 3 where he says that ninjutsu is not a martial art.

I read an article thats pretty much the same as the video in the newest shinobi no mono magazine.

It isn't. It's a martial lifestyle. He said it it wasn't a martial art like two or three times in the videos above. Not to say it upset me, as many, many people say it, but if you have ever even browsed martial art forums such as Kutaki no Mura (which can be rough) or that MartialArtsPlanet place (nobody escapes a nasty comment), you would see that as far as the public goes, he would be ridiculed for it. That said, the less popular he is with the "big shots" online and with the general masses, the less he will have altogether.

I read an article thats pretty much the same as the video in the newest shinobi no mono magazine.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

Maybe he cant pronounce ninjutsu with his British accent Tongue. At least he is trying to stay objective.

"oh Look a ninja, baggy pants!" hahahaha. priceless

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

I did not watch the whole series, but he seems a credible historical archaeologist.  He briefly mentions his credential in the first episode and then builds on that.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

he might just have issues making Japanese sounds.

That's why you have BJJ practitioners spelling/calling it jujitsu. Due to the people trying to teach it to english and other languages, and mispronouncing it.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

Hi Guys.

My name is Antony Cummins, i am the guy in the videos and i run Shinobi Soldiers. Thanks for having this chat, and thanks for the commenst. By the way i am in total shock that your main point is my accent? i am from northen England, that is just how we talk! My wife to be is Japanese and she has no problem with my accsent so i do not think you need to. What suprises me the most is that you think my points are not valid because of how i said a word? i would have thought that you would have been more concerned with them in a historical context?

Either way, i am glad you are enjoying the points. I have more vids up now, so enjoy them and i hope you enjoy all the info. It is all historically correct and it gives a great insight into the martial arts.

Enjoy

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

Hello Anthony:

I really don't have a problem with your accent, I did figure British, but am not so expert to place it.  I enjoy your research with historical archeology.  Was this an academic project or a personal interest project, or something in between?  Also, if you were going to wish for a document to find in your research, what would it be?  I hope you will join us for some discussions here. Cheers!

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

I enjoyed them all, its good to see a modern study on the Ninja. Most people only know what they see in movies. but like the ninja of old, I think the way Hollywood makes us look more like phantoms and unstoppable warriors only helps with misinformation and myth. Secrecy is a powerful weapon. I hope to see more from you Anthony. If you do not mind listing other works of yours, I would like to check them out as well. Cant wait to see the new episodes!

PS: I do not think anyone dislikes your accent Wink. Ninjitsu and Ninjutsu are very different (one of dot's pet-peeves) and it makes a huge difference depending on which one you are talking about. I believe that is most likely why the topic shifted to exactly which word you were saying.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

Well I'm surprised, I never thought that the actual author would show up to defend himself. I for one would like to commend you on your interesting and factual work and would like to see it more wide spread amongst people. I can think of  an argument or two I could have avoided if only the other person had seen your vids or read your articles. (Specifically whether or not ninja were only ever assassins)

Your videos have got me to thinking, basically my thought goes like this; what is  ninja is defined by the generation viewing the act of being  ninja. So if hundreds of thousand of people see the x-kans and such as being ninjutsu, then they are. Are they the historical definition of ninjutstu, no. However we are not historical people, we are real live people defining our world.

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

Hey there guys.

Thanks for the kind words!!! i do not get many. But i knew that when i started. I was the guy who flew to japan to train with ninjas and jump of roofs and throw graples and all that (which i would still like to do). Then when i got there i saw through it all, Bujinkan is a martial art and nothing more. But your question is it ninjutsu now... as you say.. no it is not and in fact it is so far from it it is unreal. Thoese who know i am bringing out a book translation of one of the scrolls, editor is finishing with the basics. When i read this and now i have read a few more it makes the neo-ninja look so out of place compared to real ninjutsu. Real ninjutsu is so amazing, you would not beilive how amazing it is. But all will come out as my research gets published. But just know that we all need to go back and start again, however what we who train in 'ninjutsu' taijutsu are doing well, but we are martial artits, nothing more. But if we could even learn from the scrolls it would be an amazing step forward.

As for the assassination issue, i am doing a vid tonight!!!! solook out for that.

People see my work as a threat, but what it is in reality is a way to cut the crap out of the understanding of the ninja and open peoples eyes to a world that goes well beyond what we thought. Fiction has nothing on these guys.

Thanks again

Re: Shinobi Soldiers

For Shinobi Soldiers:

Is any of your research going to be published in peer-reviewed journals?
